Eczema
relief
Eczema
is a skin condition recognised by dry, red, scaly patches of
extremely itchy skin. Infants, children and young adults, especially,
experience this allergy-related disorder.
Topical steroids are often prescribed
to treat Eczema, but this may simply suppress the problem, allowing
it to worsen over time.
What can you do?
•
Avoid milk products,
as well as foods that contain partially hydrogenated vegetable
oils and trans-fatty acids (such snack foods, fast-foods,
margerine etc.)
•
Take Omega 6 supplements,
these essential fatty acids promote healthy skin, hair
and nails, but the body does not get enough through our
food. They have a long-standing history of use for allergies..
•
Use aloe vera gel/lotions
or calendula cream on the affected areas
•
Replace perfumed soaps with
non-perfumed, moisturising soaps, and minimise bath or
shower time
•
Use the towel to pat your
body dry, rather than rubbing the skin
•
De-stress: try out relaxation
techniques, like breathing exercises, meditation or yoga
•
Take a day-trip to a nearby
hot spring – daily mineral soaks are believed to
relieve eczema symptoms
