How do I know when I have an anxiety disorder?
Everyone feels anxious and under stress from time to time. Situations such as tight deadlines, important social obligations or driving in heavy traffic often bring about anxious feelings. Such mild anxiety is generally helpful, making you alert and focused on facing threatening or challenging circumstances. Anxiety disorders, on the other hand cause severe distress over a period of time and disrupt the lives of sufferers. In these cases the frequency and the intensity of the anxiety is often quite debilitating. The signs of an anxiety disorder include:

Endless checking or rechecking actions.
A constant and unrealistic worry about everyday occurrences and activities.
Fear and anxiety that appear for no apparent reason or cause.

But fortunately, with proper and effective treatment, people suffering from anxiety disorders can lead normal lives.
